Intimate Moments... with Strawberries
Online, I go by Casimir (a long story going back to a game that I wrote, and continue to write in my spare time to this day.)

In real life I don't go by Casimir. Other people do, however, and one of these real life Casimirs has started a website called devoted to those painful private moments usually shared with only a pint of Ben and Jerry's.

Cas has his own video of himself
Coming to terms with his mortality while eating fresh strawberries.

Not being inspired to tears at the moment, I could wait until my Google Summer of Code rejection letter comes in. Of course, if I was really in need of a good cry, I could just read the news today, oh boy.

That's It?
Come on! What's inside the hatch? I at least expected to see the lost Amulet of Yendor, some Killer Gorillas, or perhaps Jimmy Hoffa.

Instead, a long ladder leading only to next season, which I will undoubtedly watch, because I'm a sucker for cliffhangers.

Lottery Winning Sorcerer Organ Donors from Outer Space!
The more that I watch this. The more I begin to think that they're all shapeshifters.

I rarely ever watch TV, but I'm on the edge of my seat.

Come to think of it, I'm not even sure what category it fits in.

And the award goes to...
This morning, I posted a game as part of FFAF to Dave's blog.

Jessica from Who Needs Oxygen neatly wrapped up most of my Top Ten for this month with the exception of two songs by the same excessively esoteric band. In fact, if she'd guessed "Snapshot" and "Airport Feelings" off the Atlas album by Kinky, I'd be a little frightened, though Tuscon Weekly tells me that they're cute and that they've won a few Grammys.

Congratulations, and without any further ado, the lyrics and corresponding solutions.
  • "There's a big old hole, goes right through the sole of this old shoe."
    Norah Jones - Creepin' In
  • "Freeze in a moment, if you're floating in the air, do not move if you're there."
    Kinky - Snapshot
  • "My sources say the road is clear and street signs point the way."
Incubus - A Certain Shade of Green
  • "The camera's eye on choice disguised. Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil? Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?"
Rage Against The Machine - Guerilla Radio
  • "I am the shadow on the wall. I'll be the one to save us all."
Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away
  • "Fasten seatbelts when seated, turn off everything with you. Electronic devices welcome aboard."
    Kinky - Airport Feelings
  • "Wise men wonder while strong men die."
Breaking Benjamin - So Cold (Accoustic)
  • "Life is too short so love the one you got, cause you might get run over or you might get shot."
Sublime - What I Got (admittedly too easy)
  • "Yeah my left brain knows that all love is fleeting."
The White Stripes - Fell in Love with a Girl
  • "You know the people dem ah rock and everything is just fine. We no need no violence we no need no crime."
    Skindred - Set It Off
Thanks for playing, and congratulations Jessica!

Ready for the next FFAF
I missed this one, but the fact that this post appears means that my FFAF code works and I'm all set for the February FFAF!

Brace yourself.

Blogggers on Ice!
The bloggerfest is on again! The possibilities are:
  • Skating/Adjourn to a bar
  • Dinner/Adjourn to a bar
  • Karaoke/Adjourn to a bar

So, I have the choice between breaking out my old K2s or spending some time with my piano.

Decisions, decisions.

New Look, New Name, Same Great Taste
I've been tossing around a new name and layout for a bit now, and I thinks it's finally reached the point of public exposure. Lend your comments about the new flavor, it lives here.

Thanks for any (constructive) feedback.

Recipe for Bloomin' Beer-Pepper-Battered Funnel-Onion
Inspired by last night's college cooking experience:

Ingredients:

36 oz. Dark Beer

Approximately one bottle (any size) Vegetable Oil
As much barbeque sauce as you can find in the fridge.
Cornstarch, not otherwise specified
Flour, see above instructions for barbeque sauce
Paprika, one jar

Instructions(Destructions):

  • Imbibe one 12 oz. bottle of beer, give the other to your roommate. This assists in measuring.
  • Heat oil until the batter fries when immersed. Continue heating oil.
  • Slice onion and attempt to batter. Realize that you haven't made any batter yet and set onion aside.
  • Mix remaining ingredients to make onion batter.
  • Dip onion in batter, fry for a minute or so, flip and continue frying.
  • Remove onion from fryer, eat fried batter and set onion aside, again.
  • Continue heating oil.
  • Add some barbecue sauce to a small amount of batter.
  • Dip a slice of onion in the batter/barbecue sauce mixture. Fry it and call it Onion 1.0-beta.
  • Add more barbecue sauce.
  • Fry onion and light oil on fire.
  • Clear the smoke from kitchen.
  • Stop heating oil.
  • Add the sugar and eggs that aren't on the list of ingredients.
  • Fry slice of onion in modified batter mixture.
  • Set onion aside permanently and attempt to make a funnel cake with remaining batter.
  • Sample funnel cake.
  • Dispose of all remaining ingredients and products and call Chili's.
If it weren't for things like this, college life might get boring.

They found me. I don't know how, but they found me...
I haven't been too strict about the 10 person limit on the Evanescence and Offspring sample recordings. However, I do know when it's a good time to quit. The content of Casimusings normally attracts geeks from around the globe interested in Linux, Nvidia, Gentoo, Fedora, and the occasional person looking for narcolespy (sic) lecture notes.

However, when a visitor from the subnet 65.52.0.0/14 (Microsoft's corporate block of addresses) stops by. I tend to take notice.

I'm guessing that it was a spider for MSN search, but since a good many more than 10 have hit up the server here for some live Evanescence or Offspring, I'm removing all traces of them. If you'd still like to hear one or both, or any of the other recordings that I have lying around, get in touch with me and I'll be sure to get them to you.

Everyone in the party van...
Off to Lake City for the fourth to hang with the Daar clan. This means I won't get to play mediator in the annual condo cookout/brawl. Darn. I'll just have to drown my sorrows in a Gigabyte of email. Thanks Tommy!

After that there are only a few more days until my "real" vacation with the crew up to Ohio to visit Cedar Point and see Incubus. Plus there are only two more classes until the Comp Org exam. I hope he doesn't plan to cover all of assembler design while I'm out. Perhaps I'll leave my MD player/recorder with a friend.

Fireworks a few blocks away tonight. Thought for a moment that Tampa had finally declared war on Temple Terrace.

I've had a few conversations about introspection. The conclusion that I've always come to regarding difficult questions, which is occasionally elusive to some is that when a question seems to have no answer, sometimes the best answer is to un-ask the question. Too much introspection is deadly. I'll leave off there, as I like to keep the personal exhibitionist quotient to a minimum.

The answers to the questions are irrelevant once the questions are asked and successfully un-asked. Try it with this to start:
"What is the meaning of life?"
"The meaning of life is what."
