Myths Disproved

The Mystery of the crystal skulls was solved by using Occam's razor and the scientific method. Scientist easily concluded that extraterrestrials and Atlantians could not of left the crystal skulls due to the fact that there is no proof of UFOs or Atlantis. Using Occam's razor they decided that the skulls were fakes or real artifacts left by the ancient cultures in the Americas. To test this the archaeologist took a closer look at the records of where they were found This record included letters, books, and analysis of the "Skull of Doom". In the article by G.M. Morgant written in 1936 he indicates that the skull had belonged to a Mr. Sydney Burney. (pg 105) The other skull at the time belonged to the Department of Ethnography of the British Museum. He goes on to conclude that "the skulls are not of independent origin. It is almost inconceivable that two artificers," should have produced specimens so closely similar in form as these two are. (pg 107)

When the skull in the British Museum was taken for analysis in 1996 with an electron microscope they found that in some area there appears to be the use of a rotary tool. That is defiantly not a pre-Columbus finding. Jane Walsh at the Smithsonian Institute also analysed one of the skulls that was donated 1992. "We discovered that the crystal skull had been carved with modern coated lapidary wheels using industrial dimonds and polished with modern machinery," Walsh reported (Walsh, 2005) "This indicates that the skulls were manufactured. In the 1870s the popular gemstone cutting centers of Idar and Oberstein Germany had carved various objects after receiving a shipment of quartz from Brazil and may of produced a few skulls. (Nickell, 2006) It was later proved that the skull was bought for 400 pounds at a sale by Sotheby's, London, in 1943. (Fitzpatrick-Matthews, 2006).
