Myths

There is very little archaeological evidence to support an extensive claim on the authenticity of the skulls found so far. This does not deter a large group of individuals to make elaborations on the origins and possible use of the skulls. The most accepted view in the New Age community is that the skulls originate from the lost continent of Atlantis. The main power source for Atlantians was from crystals. Does this mean that the crystal skulls may of powered a large computer on Atlantis? When we locate that archeological site then it would be possible to test that hypothesis

Others have claimed that the skulls have stored healing powers in them, allowing people with the ability to channel energy into another individual. The skull has been reportedly "spoken" foretelling the future or just moaning. On some of the psychic web sites they claim an increase in psychic ability when in contact with a crystal skull.

In an attempt to scientifically prove the unexplainable Frank Dorland took the skull for testing in 1970 conducted at the Hewlett-Packard Laboratories at Santa Clara, California. (Dorland, 2002) The laboratory found that the quarts was carved in opposition to its axis, making it more susceptible to breaking. He then goes on to say that there were small markings found indicating that it was roughly carved out with dimonds then smoothed out with a water and sand mixture. The problem with this is that it would take 300 years to complete. (Dorland, 2002) He then concludes what any well informed person would do -- it was made by aliens.
