Research & Evaluation is the often-dreaded course work, sometimes seen as the "weed out" courses in doctoral study. This is really far from the case. The feared research area is often the victim of apprehensions associated with statistics. The good news is that this is the home of the "d" words -- doctoral dissertation, the capstone product that marks the accomplishment of the terminal degree (and contrary to some opinion, it doesn't kill you!). There is more good news: there are many excellent supportive resources on this topic online and I have developed this listing with the reluctant researcher in mind. Here you will find links to data (you must have data!), statistics (another word for data!), research methods, helpful software tools to understand, analyze data, and online handbooks. Speaking of books, there are many devoted to research. My latest textbook read is The Practice of Social Research by Babbie (10th Edition, 2004). I highly recommend this text because it explains research clearly and is written for humans (a comforting thought, eh?). As with many textbooks these days, there is a companion Web page.
