Goal: To reduce the District's consumption of energy through the installation of higher efficiency lighting and other techniques.
Retrofit projects completed during fiscal year 1999-2000
- Continued efforts to retrofit from incandescent lamps to fluorescent lamps and from T-12/T-10 into T-8.
- Occupancy sensors - Completed Fox Hollow, Calusa, San Antonio, and Northwest Elementary Schools. Schrader was canceled due to potential remodeling.
- Replaced six more roof top A/C units. Moved Gulf Middle allocation to Mittye. P. Locke.
- Continued project to research low energy indoor and outdoor lighting.
- Pine View - continued research to replace inefficient lighting fixtures in media and cafeteria.
- Investigated new HVAC controls for River Ridge.
- Installed dehumidifiers at Lake Myrtle Elementary School.
- Polarized Refrigerant Oil Additive - Conducted test for the State Department of Community Affairs.
- Investigated thermo-grill register technology, too costly for pay back.
- Generator at Gulf High - Completed plans & feasibility study.
- Developed generator control scheme for air conditioning units during interruptions at Sunray and Chasco Elementary Schools.
- Investigated natural gas chiller feasibility.
- Investigated compressed natural gas vehicles.
- Installed 10 ton A/C unit for Pasco Elementary
Retrofit projects to be considered during fiscal year 2000-01
- Continue with efforts to convert incandescent to fluorescent lamps and convertless efficient fluorescent (T-12/T-10) into T-8 type fixtures.
- Continue to retrofit "common areas" such as teacher planning, etc. with occupancy sensors.
- Analyze options of out-sourcing or creating in-house allocations and equipment to establish a preventative maintenance service for coil cleaning.
- Continue with efforts to install commercial dehumidifiers at Lake Myrtle.
- Replace inefficient lighting at Pine View Middle.
- Create specifications for Direct Digital Controls in new and existing schools.
- Install CO2 sensors in nine (0) high school gymnasiums.
- Investigate the use of alternative fuel vehicles utilizing compressed natural gas.
- Replace 10 ton AC unit in Pasco Elementary kindergarten wing. Requires additional funding source.
- Continue to replace and upgrade HVAC control contracts at existing schools.
